With the world {it seems} embracing candy colour and the dip dyed ends trend becoming dare I say it 'common', where to next for an inspirational change of DIY colour. On the S/S 2012 catwalks {apart from the ever present Charlotte Free's pink pop locks} the new way to do rainbow colours was powder paint style. At Thakoon hair stylist Odile Gilbert used powder paint worked through the waved and pinned up hair in pastel shades of pink, blue and mint to create an almost demure Andy Warhol Monroe pop art take on this idea. Onto Narciso Rodriguez where the models locks were slicked back with paint applied to the roots, again varying pastel tones were used. Meadham Kirchhoff also got the paint brushes out to give their models Mariyln wave wigs a unique touch, with pastel being painted onto the front. The great thing about this technique is the lack of bleaching involved. Usually to create such pale pop colours it is a pre-requisite. Not just for blondes, the painted on top idea means that even the darker of natural colors can taste the rainbow. Also wash out and the colour is gone, ideal for those who don't want to commit to baby blue hair on a daily basis - perfect for a statement party season do or indeed with halloween just around the corner!
