Foot Fetish Friday - Disco Pearl Platform...

The Rochas Spring Summer 2012 catwalk show was one of my favourite collections from Paris. A fifties fantasia from the ankle up anchored by mirrored glass mother of pearlesque  platform mules and slingbacks that really worked with the pastel organza's and high shine heavyweight satins of the clothing.

Hip Flask Hankering...

I am looking forward to a nice chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc at Miss R's with dinner ce soir as we meet with one of her friend's to discuss the revamp/alteration job I will be doing on her Mums wedding dress which she wishes to wear when she weds next year.  Exciting!  I really like this idea of inheriting your Mothers dress.  Obviously there would have to be quite a few things pointing in the right direction for it to work.  Most importantly, will it fit/can it be altered to fit, is it to your taste and has it been stored ok so as not to have been ravaged by moths etc.  I am looking forward to seeing the dress and hearing what Katy would like.  Anyway, back to alcohol.  Or more importantly how to look tres chic when smuggling that quarter bottle of vodka/gin/whiskey {delete where applicable} on your next night out.  Step forward this exquisite answer from Louis Vuitton.  The silver monogrammed metal hip flask with crocodile half cover.  Spotted on the catwalk and coveted ever since.

Wednesday Wish List - Lust for Lanvin...

Alber, Alber, Alber. Your exquisite jewels always catch my eye every season but for Spring 2012 - I die! I know I say this a lot on this blog but L.O.V.E, Monsieur Elbaz referenced 'angels in hell' when talking about his collection backstage so that's where the deco-diamante-baguette-winged eagle-esque creations came from then, executed in his heavy duty hardware signature style of course. Angels in hell - definitely no 'hell's angel' here!

Gilded Gourmet...

Anyone who knows me well will be aware of my mild obsession with edible glitter!  It all started a few years back when M&D Bijoux were celebrating their Ruby Wedding Anniversary and myself and Miss R organised a surprise lunch for them complete with 40 {one for every year of marriage} ruby red helium balloons {another of my obsessions} and a homemade vanilla Cheesecake covered in red edible glitter.  Like a Dorothy shoe for your taste buds!  It went down very well and from that moment I was hooked.  I often feel a friends birthday is not complete without me making some sort of chocolate treat laced with glitter, gold is my current colour of choice and you can spot who has been indulging too, glitter goes everywhere - even better!  So you can imagine how excited I was when I read about this amaze new product 'Food Finish' from The Deli Garage on www.trendland.net today.  Its's essentially an edible {tasteless & harmless - although E number laden} metallic spray paint that you can use on food.  What a GENIUS idea.  Gold 'plated' apple anyone?.... Why stop there, how about a gilded turkey on Christmas day, I would so love to see Daddy Bijoux's face! I have so many ideas about how this could be used and am dying to get my hands on some and share with you the results - watch this space.

Go back to bed with Giles...

So manic Monday is over and it's almost time to go to bed {seriously need to get through some of my book club book for next week - I'm only on page 40 of 'The Cypress Tree' by Kamin Mohammadi - eek!} but before I do let's just have a little moment for this silky satin bed sheet-esque number complete with just got-out-of-bed tousled waves and red wine stained lips from Giles S/S 2012 show. Night Night.

Monday Morning Maison Margiela...

Why do Monday mornings always role around so fast?  Maison Martin Margiela's opening look for S/S 2012 makes me dream of being back in my boudoir, love the way this dress just looks like the model has woken from sleeping and simply grabbed the silk sheet from her bed and fashioned it into a dress.  PJ's have been sleepwalking the catwalks for several seasons and I really like this take on bedwear/daywear/nightwear, The Row also showed a fluid biro doodle three piece 'suit' that nodded to the luxurious new take on this trend.  Anyway, I wish I looked this good straight out of bed...

Spring into Sunflowers this Summer...

Van Gogh's flower of choice, the sunflower will be having a fashion moment come S/S 2012 if the catwalks of Rodarte, Ashish, and Fashion Fringe winners Fyodor Golan are anything to go by.  It is always interesting to see which designers rise to the challenge of injecting some newness into the ubiquitous floral print and making this summer staple fresh each season. Three different designers with three very different interpretations.

Pastel Powder Paint Coiffure...

With the world {it seems} embracing candy colour and the dip dyed ends trend becoming dare I say it 'common', where to next for an inspirational change of DIY colour.  On the S/S 2012 catwalks {apart from the ever present Charlotte Free's pink pop locks} the new way to do rainbow colours was powder paint style.  At Thakoon hair stylist Odile Gilbert used powder paint worked through the waved and pinned up hair in pastel shades of pink, blue and mint to create an almost demure Andy Warhol Monroe pop art take on this idea.  Onto Narciso Rodriguez where the models locks were slicked back with paint applied to the roots, again varying pastel tones were used. Meadham Kirchhoff also got the paint brushes out to give their models Mariyln wave wigs a unique touch, with pastel being painted onto the front.  The great thing about this technique is the lack of bleaching involved.  Usually to create such pale pop colours it is a pre-requisite.  Not just for blondes, the painted on top idea means that even the darker of natural colors can taste the rainbow. Also wash out and the colour is gone, ideal for those who don't want to commit to baby blue hair on a daily basis - perfect for a statement party season do or indeed with halloween just around the corner!

Now you see it, now you don't...

Ricky Genest a.k.a Rico Zombie Boy, the HOT guy with the total tatt from the waist up thang going on {who came to fame starring in Nicola Formichetti's first menswear Mugler collection/campaign and Lady Gaga's Born This Way music video} is almost unrecognisable in his latest venture for DermaBlend concealer.  How can one so hot go to almost Right Said Fred likeness with a liberal application of this makeup?  One things for sure it's coverage is obviously very very good!

Foot Fetish Friday - YSL's Spearmint Heeled Loafers...

The shoes from the Yves Saint Laurent S/S 2012 collection were nothing short of exquisite.  Ticking off so many trends for next season. Heeled Loafer. Check. Spearmint shades. Check.  Block Heel. Check. Luxe Metal Parts. Check.  They are such a gorgeous shape and the detailing is incredible, note the circular curved out metal panel inside the heel and the subtle baroque patterned snakeskin on the second style with the baroque pattern echoed in the gold metal toe guard.  With other styles on the runway including gold toe cap sling backs, {platform and kitten varieties} as well as an incredible blush satin wrapped ankle strap sandal with gold toe cap guard studded with jewels - fierce!

Versace for H&M wishlist...

On the 17th November {date for your diary} the much anticipated Ver-sace for H&M collabo drops in-store.  With Versace experiencing something of a renaissance right now courtesy of the archive rocking la Gaga, how much did I LOVE the mens S/S 2012 vintage Gianni-esque collection followed by the under water extravaganza that was the women's {one of Donatella's best runway collections for seasons}.  So as more and more photos of her H&M capsule flood the internet I thought I would bring you the pieces that I have my eye on {and then we can see come the 17th if I am successful in anyway} and it's mostly menswear that is taking my fancy I must say. Oh yes and loving the gold 80's medusa jewelry too!

Either of these printed bomber baseball jackets would do me fine.
This metal collar tip shirt comes in several colours but I am all about the hot pink.

Tim Walker for Vogue Italia - oh how I love thee...

After an age out of editorial, well since June British Vogue - Merrie England/Tilda Swinton covering W magazine in August {on my radar anyway, correct me if I'm wrong} monsieur Walker is back with an editorial extravagnaza for Vogue Italia October 2011 called 'Mechanical Dolls' = major Walker LOVE.  The king of fantastical fashion fairy tale does it again. Starring Audrey Marnay and Kirsi Pyrhonen with styling by Jacob K.  Whilst we are on the subject of the extreme talents of Tim, does anyone know how / where you can see his debut film 'The Lost Explorer', I am desperate to see it - all help very much welcome?...

Bridal Beanie...

Sport chic in various guises {couture/floral/fifties'/tribal/tropical sport} was all over the catwalks of Spring Summer 2012.  As was the finale bride traditionally seen at the end of a couture show.  In Raf Simons' last installment of his couture trilogy at Jil Sander we were treated to not one but four beautifully minimal brides {as previously posted}, however it is the ingenious beanie 'street' styling that also graced his models heads that got me thinking.  So you are a non-girly girl getting married and are shunning the traditional veil {as Miss R did much to my constant failed persuading last year at her wedding} but you would like to wear something on your head.  Enter the humble knitted beanie.  Executed in cashmere and adorned with a matching white vintage-esque net you are onto a winner, a modern day sports pill box if you will. I have already tried out a DIY version of the below in black and am definitely going to rock it on my next evening outing.

Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette - colour inspiration for S/S 2012...

Today in 1793 Marie Antoinette, teen Queen of France was executed by guillotine for treason.  Sophia Coppola's magical film about the young life of the French royal is a fashion / costume lovers dream.  I adore this film and her use of a predominantly pastel colour palette throughout is so spot on with the ice cream shades that were all over the catwalks for S/S 2012.  The amaze soundtrack to the film also includes two of my favourite songs - The Strokes 'What Ever Happened?' and Dustin O'Halloran's 'Opus 23'.  Here is the trailer for any of you who haven't watched the film - go see the DVD...

Brunch at Bill's in Brighton...

This morning Miss R and myself breakfasted at Bill's in Brighton.  We were both in need of something to eat before we caught the train back to London town after lots of beer fueled fun at The Kills last night, which rocked by the way {thank you to the gorgeous Miss A and Mr S}!  The food was delicious, waitresses - friendly and attentive and the service fast which is just what you need when you have a train to catch.
