Happy 64th to us - Part 1...

On Thursday Miss R and myself are 32 {each} and so on Saturday we went home for an early celebration for a Shiers family birthday BBQ.  Well we tried to have a barbeque, unfortunately the good old English 'summer' weather was not on our side and after a sunny start it began raining as the last of the food was being BBQ'd, queue mad dash to bring everything inside and avoid getting drenched.  Our Mum {herself quite the master baker} made the below cake for us from Miss R's lovely friend Tommi's 1st recipe book 'Cook' and topped with vintage Happy Birthday decorations, the nostalgia of which brought me right back to the birthday cake's she used to buy us as children.  They would always be the same small round cake but one would have baby blue icing and one would be pale pink.
