Crème Glacée Anglaise...

What do you get when you cross a gelato colour palette with Broderie Anglaise?  A fresh reworking of this classic white cotton at Prada and Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 that's what! Totally reminds me of the neopolitan ice-cream block that we used to have in between wafers, sandwich style, when we were children. Pastel Perfect.

Paint it White - Chanel vs. Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 show sets ...

Everyone who has ever visited my flat knows that I love an all white interior!  I went though a phase a few years ago of buying various vintage furniture, tables, chairs etc and painting them all with silk white emulsion.  I have even taken the paint brush to a leather chesterfield with pretty successful results! My reasoning was that you could have various styles / era's that sit together really well as they all share the same 'colour'.  A way of mixing more modern perspex pieces together with say Louis XVI style things and making them work.  Miss R used to joke if anyone sat for long enough I would paint them white too, if it can't move it gets white washed! Anyway it seems that Mr Lagerfeld and Mr Jacobs are both fans of an all white interior too if their S/S 2012 show sets are anything to go by.  Yesterday at Chanel the set was an all white underwater extraordinaire and this morning at Louis Vuitton a fairground carousel came alive with models lounging on all white horses {some even styled with monogrammed blankets for comfort no less}.  I have always been a little alot obsessed with vintage carousels and fairground rides, so you can imagine my delight at what the LV team created at what is much rumoured to be Marc's last show at the luxury brand.  His face when he took his bow spoke volumes. Pearl Punk...

The Chanel set for their S/S 2012 show which took place this morning at the Grand Palais in Paris was an all white under water seascape, including a bubble tunnel that the models emerged from.  Dreamy.  On the beauty front the treasure of the sea - pearls, were key!  Adorning sea slicked hair and introducing a novel take on facial piercing, sur le visage.  A softer way to wear your nose, eyebrow or lip stud and shedding the lady like rep of pearls in one go this pastel/pretty take on punk is definitely something simmering on the Spring catwalks, also spotted at House of Holland and Versace to name but two!

Emerging Trend - Smiles on the Catwalk...

There are some things you just don't do on the runway.  Falling can be career suicide for an unknown model or can sometimes play a part in elevating you to superstar status, think Naomi Campbell's iconic tumble in those 10" blue Vivienne Westwood aligator ghillie lace, super elevated platforms back in 1993. Smiling was also one of them.  Emphasis on was.  If today's Chanel show and yesterday's Stella McCartney are anything to go by, the new pissed-off-pout is indeed anything from a subtle smirk to a full blown smile and I for one like it, ALOT!

Monroe Mode - Vogue US vs. Vogue UK ...

Michelle Williams portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in 'My Week with Marilyn' is released in the UK on Friday 18th November.  I am very interested to see this film {directed by Simon Curtis} which charts the week Marilyn spent in Britain whilst her new husband Arthur Miller leaves the country and she strikes an unlikely friendship with Colin Clark, an assistant on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl, of which she stars.  Miss Williams graces the cover of October's US Vogue in an homage to the woman who she said took over her during filming her interpretation of this movie and style icon.  Shot by Annie Leibovitz, the cover and accompanying editorial ooze old school glamour.  Across the water Rihanna also gives good cover on Vogue UK's November issue {lensed by Alasdair McLellan} donning a trademark Marilynesque blonde wavy wig and though the dress doesn't scream instant Monroe the demure yet sexy pose ceratinly does.

Bath time Bailey...

Last night Miss R and myself took Bay for an early evening walk in our local Queen's Park.  It was such a lovely warm, balmy evening and seemed strange how it got dark so early even though it felt like high summer, the joys of the Indian Summer!  Mr B has developed a technique for cooling himself down during this warm spell which involves finding a lush long patch of grass and rolling around in it, he almost looks possessed when he does it, I expect it's like a cooling pillow for him.  Unfortunately with Miss R's bionic nose in full swing we discovered Bailey had been rolling around in something other that grass - I think you get the picture!  So off home for an impromptu bath time, my first experience with B Boy.  He looks so adorable when he is wet and covered in soap suds bless him, not so adorable when he went to the loo in the bath - ahahahah! The below photo is a little blurred as Bailey wouldn't stop moving but it was too cute not to share...
